Jag - Technocentric Episode 1
March 10, 2008 06:44 AM PDT
This is a tech house/ techno/ minimal mix i spun live and purley based on mood. I really like the darker elements of techno and minimal which work together with the straight 4-4 beats of tech house. While the title suggests straight techno, I really can't corner this mix into one genre as it explores a full range of genres and elements specific to each. Ethnocentric literally means to believe that ones way is superior to all others. I felt this was fitting because my goal is to break the barriers put up by "genre snobs" (sorry if I offended anyone) and fill ears with tight crossover mixes incorporating the best of all elements. About JAGAs a student of music from the UK to Detroit, JAG takes pride in his ability to mix main stream european house tracks with the deeper darker side of the detroit electronic music scene. In this podcast I feature only live mixes done by myself. Most tracks have been harmonically mixed to add an extra element of precision to the collection. Most of my work focuses on crossover preformances implementing similar but elementally drastic shifts between genres. I feel this sound captures the true scope of the electronic music scene. The long dips and rises of house music, strait tribal drums, and the subtle shifts of minimal and techno all blend to create a unique emotional shift through the mix.
